Armando is professor at Department of Food, Nutrition & Culinary Science, Umeå University, where he leads a research group on Sustainable Food Transitions. Until February 2022 he worked at University of Copenhagen. He is a researcher and educator in the crossroads of public health nutrition, consumer behaviour and food technology (sensory). His previous work on consumer behavior (through several EU projects e.g. Eatwell, VeggiEAT, Smart Protein, HealthFerm) has shed light on behavioural strategies that could facilitate the promotion of healthier eating habits. In the past 7 y, his focus has been on consumer attitudes and barriers towards plant based consumption, hence, towards diet shift. He is a passionate advocate for sustainable food systems, where a shift to more plant-based foods seems sensible under current climate change new reality.
